Mixbox is a tool to craft and gift experiences in a city.

Drawing from the metaphor of a shoebox full of dog-eared moments, MixBox lets u create a set of experiences for friends and family even from remotely. By recording personal audio messages and overlaying familiar music each task is given the qualities of a time machine enabling nostalgic experiences.

Inspiration is collected from various social media data, for example a music concert of a particular band that both you and your friend enjoy, or a favorite cup cake shop you both love.

This project was heavily dependent on creating a narrative arc to really communicate the need for such a tool. We did a few rounds of user journeys in different formats before we fixed on a way to communicate the idea. With each step the user is prompted to document their experiences thereby creating an inventory of personal experiences to look back on.

Instead of replacing the human voice(which is usually what happens in technology mediated communication), Mixbox augments the human voice's reach ultimately pointing to the potential impact of interactions which keep in mind our other senses besides sight.
