Seedspeak is a one stop service for finding a CSA that suits each citizen's needs. By aggregating and publicizing demand, Seedpeak promotes growth in the CSA system in the city.

The brief was to develop solutions for a Food Systems Initiative mentioned in the PlaNYC, a growth plan released by the New York State govt. for the future of the city. After research we came to understand the complex food ecosystem in NYC and chose to focus on the availability and access to fresh organic food for New Yorkers. Seedspeak, is a platform that unifies and visualized latent demand for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and makes it easy for people to get together and form newer CSAs, since the existing ones get full very easily and there is no mechanism to connect the people on individual CSA waitlists.

The idea was explained through a series of illustrated user journeys to understand the various touch points of the service with the potential customers, and at what points is the service needed.

The final deliverable, is a platform that unifies data through aggregating information from various individual participating CSAs, who would sport a badge to track traffic on their after the CSA membership is full and redirect them to Seedspeak. The other component is a pubic installation to create awareness about CSAs and to give the residents of a particular area to vote for getting CSAs in their neighborhood. This mechanism is used to collect the contact information of interested individuals which can be then used to send updates if someone from the community volunteers to organize a CSA. Hence providing a clear platform to bridge the gap between low supply and high demand of CSAs.
